Off-Campus Visit: Eid al-Fitr Edition 2026

UPM Supports the Welfare of Off-Campus Students Through the ZLK Program: Raya Edition 2026

SERDANG, April 28 – While the festive spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri still envelops the nation, the welfare and well-being of off-campus students remain a top priority for Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Recognizing that some students chose or were required to stay at their residences around the university throughout the festive season, the Off-Campus Student Council (MPLK), in close cooperation with UPM’s Housing and Placement Division (BPP), joined forces to organize the Ziarah Luar Kampus (ZLK) Welfare Program: Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 Edition.

This ongoing series is anchored on the values of community care and strengthening the bond between the university and its students. Beyond its aim to alleviate the financial and living expenses of students, this initiative was also executed to ensure their emotional and physical well-being is constantly looked after while being away from their families during festive seasons or challenging times.

Supporting the "True North" Concept & UPM Strategic Plan

The implementation of the ZLK Raya Edition program this time is not merely a seasonal activity; rather, it fully supports the "True North" concept introduced by UPM to achieve the university's strategic direction. This program directly aligns with two main pillars: Pillar 3 (Volunteerism) and Pillar 8 (Campus Life).

Furthermore, it runs parallel with the UPM H.E.P.A Strategic Plan 2024, specifically contributing to Pillar 3 (Community Strengthening) and Pillar 4 (Best Learning and Life Experience).

A Noble Synergy: 100 Units of Basic Aid Kits Distributed

Through the active involvement of 14 student organizing committee members from MPLK and the strong support of 17 UPM BPP staff members, a total of 100 units of ZLK Basic Aid Kits were successfully distributed. The aid kits, containing essential daily food supplies, were handed over directly to students residing in five (5) key off-campus residential areas around Serdang, including:

  • Taman Sri Serdang

  • Mutiara Residence

  • Vista Pinggiran Putra

This close cooperation between the students and accompanying staff reflects the true spirit of the "Jiwa Putra" (Putra Soul) approach—a mold that emphasizes building deep empathy, care, and a high sense of social responsibility among the university community.

Overcoming Constraints for the Sake of Students

Although the on-the-ground distribution (visitation) session went smoothly, the secretariat still faced constraints due to lecture timetable clashes for some students. However, to ensure that no student was left behind from receiving aid, the remaining food supply boxes were placed at the UPM Housing and Placement Division (BPP) Office, allowing the affected students to collect them personally during official working hours and days.

Overall, the ZLK Raya Edition 2026 program not only achieved its welfare objective of helping 100 students, but also further strengthened UPM's image as a higher education institution that is caring, inclusive, and consistently committed to supporting the holistic character development and well-being of its student community.
